A broadly scoped Commercial Management role covering multiple sectors, clients and contract types and sizes.
The Opportunity:
Plans for significant growth across a range of our business sectors has produced an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Commercial, Estimating and Proposals team in Auckland. The core focus of this role is to provide commercial support and leadership to the business at pre-contracts stage. You will achieve this through building strong relationships and gaining credibility with your key stakeholders, by using your contractual knowledge to identify risks and opportunities, by facilitating risk and opportunity workshops and by making recommendations in relation to commercial models.
The Team and the Company:
The CEP team provides support to all sectors of the New Zealand business which includes Power, Telecommunications, Transport Infrastructure, Water Infrastructure and Facilities management. You will be predominantly focused on Infrastructure and FM but there will also be opportunities to work across the other sectors. The team consists of commercial managers, estimators, bid managers and bid writers. Broadspectrum are part of the Ferrovial Group who are a global infrastructure services company. You will also be supported by a manager who is very focused on a positive team dynamic and career development for individuals within the team. .
The key attributes required to be successful in this role are:
• Operations experience from the construction industry and the ability to use this knowledge to interrogate commercial developments in a contract or project.
• Experience in a commercial management role on maintenance and construction contracts.
• Effective negotiating skills and the ability to resolve disputes
• An analytical mind and the ability to plan, prioritise and focus on the key issues
• The ability to influence major stakeholders and to draw upon the skills and knowledge of relevant personnel from business development, operations, finance and estimating.
• An open mind to ideas and input from other key stakeholders, the ability to qualify/quantify these ideas and effectively incorporate them into successful commercial strategies and outcomes.
• Strong capabilities in commercial strategy and in-depth understanding of commercial models
• The flexibility to adapt to and drive changes in direction as commercial issues evolve
• The ability to communicate important commercial items to contract and project managers – payment triggers, the commercial risks, planned mitigations etc.
