About the Contract:
The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing is the one of the largest road infrastructure projects in Queensland’s history. The $1.6 billion project is a 41km road bypass route to the north of Toowoomba. When finished, it will connect the Warrego Highway at Helidon Spa in the east to the Gore Highway at Athol in the west via Charlton. The construction phase of the project will be completed in late 2018 and Broadspectrum will take over as the Operations and Maintenance provider.

About the Role:
The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing Control Centre is the central nerve centre for the asset. The Control Centre Operator will communicate to a high level, manage traffic, co-ordinate incident response services across the asset and co-ordinate the initial response to emergencies in real time. You will work in a fast passed environment, you will need to manage priorities and ensure a co-ordinated response occurs in line with established operational procedures.

A video wall, CCTV cameras, electronic signage and other real time information and feeds will keep you informed of the roadways performance and availability. Operators are to promote a safe free flowing roadway where incidents are managed rapidly and effectively. 

The incumbent will participate in building key relationships including but not limited to Department of Transport and Main Roads, Nexus Infrastructure, Toowoomba TMC, emergency services and local Councils.  

What’s Required:

  • Previous experience as a Control Centre Operator or similar
  • Work in a similar environment (ie shift work 24/7) would be an advantage
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter in a demanding rapid response environment
  • Demonstrable team contributor, creativity and lateral thinking skills particularly with respect to developing operational plans, service agreements and contractual relationships
  • Experience with customer relationship management (including liaising with Government authorities) together with related operational support services at a professional level
  • Ability to work under pressure and within defined time lines, as both an Operator and independently, developing a reputation for honesty and sincerity in customer relationships
  • Ability to recommend, implement and maintain best practice operational standards in areas such as operations and customer management
  • Knowledge and awareness of contemporary OH&S, EEO, anti-Discrimination and harassment prohibition issues.
  • High level, professional oral & written presentation skills
  • Well-developed skill and proficiency in networked computer operations, as well as PC based word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Advanced Computer Skills
  • Ability to time manage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines
  • SAP experience desirable
