Ventia is currently seeking an experienced Communications Technicians to join their Digital Network Infrastructure team in the sunny Bay of Plenty 


This is an exciting new role as you will have the opportunity to work on some new and upcoming projects with high-profile clients such as Rural Connectivity Group (RGC), Power Co, 2degrees, Horizon.  You will also be exposed to work within Transpower, Fonterra, DOC communication environments to name a few

Key Experience and Skills:


  • Previous experience in installation and maintenance in the telecommunications and/or utility industry
  • Previous experience with installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of cellular and radio communication systems – cabinets, antennas, antenna systems, microwave radio within the NZ Telecommunications network.
  • Previous experience and knowledge in installation and maintenance of inside plant transmission equipment 
  • Previous experience climbing of telecommunications towers and working on the equipment up the towers


As the successful candidate, you will also need to have the following:


  • Knowledge and experience working with structured cabling both fibre, copper and wireless networking 
  • Be an all-round multi skilled technician
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Full drivers licence
  • A highly motivated goal setter and goal achiever
  • Be able to work strongly in a tight knit team and unsupervised at times.


The work will predominantly be within the Bay of Plenty region (Tauranga and or Rotorua) with travel to other depots to provide assistance as required.


Particular strengths essential for this role are the following: Teamwork; self-motivation; ownership of jobs; reporting skills; ability to work alone and under pressure; availability for travel. 


Flexible working hours are an essential part of the role as telecommunication is deemed to be an essential service in New Zealand. Therefore, participation in weekend and night time stand-by rosters may be part of the job requirement.

The successful candidate shall be motivated, competent and willing to work hard to ensure their own personal growth and their development within the team. 

There is a strong focus on Health and Safety as well as meeting Client expectations, quality workmanship and providing high levels of customer service.  You will need to have good communication skills, and a desire to go the extra mile.
