The Contract
Ventia will put the customer at the centre of everything we do through the Sydney Roads Asset Performance Contract. We aspire to deliver a step change in the delivery of road and ITS maintenance and management services in the western Parkland zone of Metropolitan Sydney and further ITS services through the rest of regional NSW. We will be driven by outcomes that will consider customers, stakeholders and places in our decision making and will drive sustainability through service delivery. The Role
As the Sustainability Manager you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring sustainability strategies and action plans to achieve contract objectives and sustainable outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing the contract sustainability strategy, implementation plan and key sustainability targets and associated metrics across environment, social and economic aspects.
  • Coordinating the delivery of an Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Operations Rating for the contract to achieve target scores.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert advice to progress the sustainability performance across maintenance and projects.
  • Engaging with issue owners to discuss improvement opportunities and prepare periodic updates to management with supporting analysis and insight. 
  • Ensure the focus on sustainability across the contract is maintained and ensure opportunities for improved sustainability performance are identified and evaluated and solutions are implemented. 
  • Incorporating sustainable practices through business processes by working with work stream leads and teams for continual improvement. 


  • Tertiary qualification in Sustainability / Environmental Management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Sustainability professional.
  • Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP).
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering measured sustainability improvement / initiatives.
  • Relevant industry experience (road / infrastructure operations and/or construction).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High professional standards and strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council Australia (ISCA) rating tool.
  • Experience in undertaking risk assessments, internal auditing and knowledge of energy/carbon accounting preferred.
