The Contract

Ventia will put the customer at the centre of everything we do through the Sydney Roads Asset Performance Contract. We aspire to deliver a step change in the delivery of road and ITS maintenance and management services in the western Parkland zone of Metropolitan Sydney and further ITS services through the rest of regional NSW. The Role

Based west of Metropolitan Sydney the Intelligent Transport System Engineers will be responsible for the provision of technical acumen during the delivery of services of Traffic Signals, Intelligent Transport Systems and Streetlighting equipment and systems.  There will be a strong focus on Testing, Commissioning, Documentation, Quality Control and the promotion of high-performance standards.  

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering the engineering aspects of services/projects through design activities until completion and submission of all deliverables on time, to budget and to quality standards.
  • Preparing, updating and implementing the Maintenance Management Plan and monitoring & addressing delivery changes and non-conformances.
  • Securing external resource, adopting lessons learnt from past delivery and implementing in current works, in consultation with the ITS Lead.
  • Preparing the list of deliverables / tasks from overall delivery and their transfer to the baseline maintenance Schedule.
  • Developing of the interface activities with other works.
  • Interfacing with internal and external team for the maintenance requirements.
  • Liaising with Client, site and vendors on aspects of the works including engineering issues, and documentation and organising meetings as required.
  • Interfacing with cross discipline and external information and documents flow.
  • Diagnosing delivery related issues and resolving through documentation or escalation to ITS Lead.
  • Participating in active continuous improvement of processes, procedures and systems.
  • Complying with all Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements and guiding other delivery team members to do so. 
  • Auditing of delivery of works to ensure compliance with internal procedures and contract.
  • Continuously improving the suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the engineering management approach



  • Degree in Electrical, Control system or Communication engineering.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience working with ITS asset systems and in Asset Services/ Management.
  • Understanding of Intelligent Transport Systems and traffic signal and streetlighting systems.
  • Experience in maintenance, design and asset system analysis of Intelligent Transport Systems.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in computerised Management and Asset Management Systems.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning of Intelligent Transport Systems.
  • Client focused and the ability to communicate effectively and in an informative manner at all levels
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Planning & Organisational skills
  • Ability to problem solve and think analytically and strategically.
