The Contract


Ventia will put the customer at the centre of everything we do through the Sydney Roads Asset Performance Contract. We aspire to deliver a step change in the delivery of road and ITS maintenance and management services in the western Parkland zone of Metropolitan Sydney and further ITS services through the rest of regional NSW. The Role


Ventia are currenlty seeking ITS System Inspectors to support the new Contract. Based west of Metropolitan Sydney the ITS Systems Inspectors will be responsible for dealing with complex equipment problems, associated with the Intelligent Transport System, Traffic Systems and Streetlighting equipment and systems.  The successful applicants will be experienced and technically proficient in all aspects of traffic control and ITS equipment.  

 

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Repairing, overhauling, modifying and testing microprocessor-based controllers and other complex electronic equipment. 
  • As required, leadership of a group of electricians/technicians engaged in development, maintenance or repair of traffic signal equipment, ITS and streetlight. 
  • Monitoring fault records of equipment to be repaired by the group so as to assist in identification of fault patterns. 
  • Preparation and testing of controller personalities against design plans. 
  • Review and provide input to operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Engaging in traffic systems work.
  • Supports the Asset Manager and ITS Asset Engineer for the delivery of Asset Management Planning Services across the project.
  • Preparing, implementing and updating the site OH&S requirements as per Ventia policy. 
  • Managing and coordinating health and safety, quality and environmental protection activities on site including inspection and testing, monitoring, measuring and documenting. 
  • Recording and resolving product nonconformance, accidents and dangerous occurrences and environmental incidents.
     

Requirements

 

  • Tertiary qualified in Electrical, Control System or Communication engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience working with Traffic Signals and ITS Systems.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience with Services/ Project Management. 
  • Must have full NSW electrical license
  • Must have extensive traffic signal experience in NSW.
  • Understanding of Intelligent Transport Systems, Traffic Signal, and ITS and streetlighting systems.
  • Experience in maintenance & construction of Intelligent Transport Systems.
  • Experience in testing and commissioning of Intelligent Transport Systems.
  • Experience in the operation of Intelligent Transport Systems
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of Computerised Management and Asset Management Systems 
  • Ability to work independently
