As part of the Sydney Roads Asset Performance Contract, Ventia is currently seeking an Aboriginal Participation Liaison who can lead a culture of respect for the Aboriginal culture and heritage.  They will be responsible for managing the development and the implementation of the SRAPC Parkland Aboriginal Participation Plan, and in collaboration with the sector leads will be responsible for monitoring and achieving the targeted outcomes specified in the plan.

 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

 

  • Maintaining close relationships with Aboriginal community, elders and business owners, facilitating employment opportunities, development opportunities and opportunities to provide goods and services to the Parkland SRAPC.
  • Maintain close relationships with TfNSW’s Aboriginal Engagement team.
  • Leading a program that establishes a culture that celebrates Aboriginal culture, languages and respects the land within the Parkland Zone.
  • Working with Asset Management, Environmental, Sustainability and Delivery teams to understand the cultural significance of the land, supporting planning, maintenance and projects that respect Aboriginal heritage and land usage.
  • Proactively champion Aboriginal Participation in the Transport Asset Management sector, facilitating opportunities to develop Aboriginal youths and unemployed to be job ready. 
  • Supporting Aboriginal employees and businesses, including supporting individuals in resolving issues that may impact performance.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Identify as Aboriginal and have an ability to represent Aboriginal community needs as required - minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, supporting Aboriginal Participation and Engagement. 
  • Hold a Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • Have experience in community and stakeholder engagement.
  • Have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
