The Role:
This is an exciting permanent, full-time position based at Puckapunyal Military Base. You will be mostly be working autonomously on a variety of projects.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Conducting maintenance tasks on all Defence vehicles & equipment.
  • Create equipment for Defence use, eg. Ladders & targets.
  • Cut, roll, shape, bend, mould, spin, heat or hammer metal products to fabricate parts or sub-assemblies.
  • Heat-treat metal parts & components.
  • Maintain all company Health & Safety guidelines & legislations. 
  • Maintaining housekeeping of workshop areas.


What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Possess a recognised Trade Certificate III of Proficiency (Welder, Boilermaker or Sheet Metalworker).
  • Possess a Welding Certificate 1, 2 or 3 in Manual Metal Arc Welding and a Certificate 8G in Gas Metal and Arc Welding. 
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the role as well as the physical demands of the environment and emergency evacuation requirements. 
  • Flexible working attitude. 
  • Competency reading & interpreting fabrication plans / drawings.

The successful application for this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1 (Secret) and be prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical including a drug & alcohol test.
