About the role:

The Intelligence Analyst monitors, collects, collates, interprets and analyses all sources of information to aid in the development and implementation of crime prevention initiatives to prevent inmate escapes, inmate and staff assaults, the introduction and usage of contraband, and other threats to safety and security.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating intelligence information, informing decision making in the prevention of security breaches, crime and violence prevention and management of incidents
  • Preparing detailed intelligence reports and briefings, presenting complex information to senior management
  • Ensuring the security intelligence system is updated, maintained, used appropriately and that staff are trained in its use as required
  • Monitoring the inmate telephone system, inmate mail and other communications systems, and analysing and disseminating information obtained
  • Modelling, mentoring, and encouraging pro-social behaviour in interpersonal interactions, negotiation and conflict resolution.

Skills and Experience:

You will ideally be skilled in delivering positive outcomes and results in a complex correctional environment. You will be an excellent people person with strong interpersonal skills, personal values that show a recognition that people can change and an ability to embrace diversity and to have a relentless focus on delivery and doing the right thing. In addition, we will be looking for: 

  • Demonstrated experience working in an intelligence or investigative environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Must complete the State’s Intelligence Training requirement.
  • Must possess a Certificate in Intelligence Analysis (equivalent or higher)
  • Must obtain appropriate security clearances from New South Wales Police and Correctional Services New South Wales
