Operator/Labourer - Far North

Broadspectrum currently holds the Far North District Council Road Maintenance contract and we are currently seeking an experienced and hardworking Excavator Operator/Labourer.




You will be responsible for the operation of a range of construction plant including but not limited to, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, water carts and rollers.


The general/construction crew specialises in environmental – silt & runoff control, set out & levels, earthworks, bulk filling & compaction, drainage construction, concrete construction, pavement/basecourse construction, surface preparation, restoration and reinstatement, road furniture and installation;


This role will also be expected to carry out other construction labouring duties as and when required.

As the ideal candidate, you will need to have 2-3 years proven work experience in road or civil construction. No formal qualifications are required but basic handyman/maintenance skills and STMS qualifications are a definite advantage.


You will need to be physically fit, as the job requires digging, heavy lifting, prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending; frequent repetitive hand, arm and leg/foot movements and pushing and pulling is required for operations of controls.


Minimum requirements are a valid Class 2 driver’s licence but Class 4 with WTR is preferred.


The successful candidate should be motivated, and willing to work hard to ensure their own personal growth and the development of the team. There is a strong focus on meeting Client expectations and providing high levels of customer service.  You will need to have good communication skills, and a desire to go the extra mile.
