The Role

Representing Broadspectrum to manage and deliver the multiple services categorised as Training Areas and Ranges within Murray Bridge.
Responsible for the ranges function through a range of accountabilities be it revenue, direct costs, overheads, asset management, Workplace Health and Safety, training and human resources.
 
These duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Ensure all required services are planned, coordinated and delivered according to the specific base and service locations requirements for the training areas and ranges services. This includes the allocation, tasking and sourcing of internal labour, subcontractors and equipment.
  • Ensure the necessary supervision is in place and able to effectively supervise the service delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and manage performance of the function covering positive and negative performance outcomes to achieve a continuous improvement in performance.
  • Conducts service inspections.
  • Coordination of bookings for, and access to the Range or Training Area.
  • Management of the Range communications network.
  • Manage all training area maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance to statutory, legislative and company requirements for all Range Operations.
  • Coordination of Broadspectrum Fire Fighting assets during fire-fighting operations, where applicable.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of ranges service delivery and statutory compliance requirements.
  • A sound understanding of Contract Management, Quality Management systems and the continuous improvement process.
  • Knowledge of Defence roles, functions and organisation.
  • Well-developed computer, word processing and technical knowledge in MS Word, Excel and Power point.
  • An ability to interact effectively with technical staff, subcontractors, senior military officers and Client representatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with a high degree of motivation, energy, initiative and commitment, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities.
  • Must have Fire Fighting Qualifications that match State Based competencies including management of a Fire Fighting Force (not just crew leader). In Tasmania, this equates to PUAFIR406A Develop Prescribed Burning Plans, and PUAFIR407A, Conduct Prescribed Burns.
  • Must hold a current driver’s licence to operate range vehicles/equipment; and
  • Have good radio communications skills.

 

Special Conditions

  • Must meet physical requirements of the role as well as the physical demands of the environment and emergency evacuation requirements.
  • Required to liaise with clients/staff and respond to specific deadlines.
  • The incumbent to this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1 (Secret).  As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen.
