We are seeking HV Electricians to maintain, repair, replace and ensure the integrity and performance of electrical equipment and systems within Broadspectrum’s Rail Maintenance Services contract for the Sydney Airport Rail Line (SARL) project. 

The Role:

The activities of the role will include but will not be limited to:

• Operate and maintain all HV and LV equipment relating to the airport tunnel 

• Complete routine inspections and maintenance activities to the electrical infrastructure of the airport Line

• Attend electrical failures on the Airport Line infrastructure and report on root cause analyses of failures.

• After hours call-out attendance to electrical system failures and Incident affecting train services on the airport Line. 

• Assist Broadspectrum services personnel and contractors undertake routine maintenance and repairs across airport line track and tunnel assets

• Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of maintenance plans and procedures, which may improve productivity or quality and/or reduce cost.

• Install and maintain substation DC systems

• Carryout substation inspections

• Maintain HV power systems and system breakers

• Diagnose and rectify faults in the power system substation environment

• Maintain high current DC switch gear and equipment

• Coordinate power system permit procedures

• Update electrical records and drawings as required


The roster requirements include:

• Monday to Friday shifts 

• Rotating weekly day/night shift roster 

• Once per month on call availability with allowance

To be considered for this role you must possess:

• High Voltage Safe Work Practices Certificate / High Voltage Switching Certificate

• Electrical Supervisors licence as issued by the department of fair trading

• Current Car Drivers Licence

• Developed fault diagnosis skills for integrated mechanical and electrical systems

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Ability to identify and prioritise problems and issues, generate solutions and work collaboratively to achieve a successful outcome.


Desirable Technical Competencies

• RIW Card (Company will assist with this)

• Certificate IV in ESI-Substations

• Confined space entry

• Working from Elevated Work Platforms

• Sydney Trains Electrical Network Safety Rules 

• PLC and SCADA experience

• HV Licence

• First Aid Certificate 

• Low Voltage Rescue
