Broadspectrum are currently seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join their Telco-construction team in Hamilton.


The purpose of this role is to carry out UFB works, earthworks, pavement, and construction work. The role would require operation of a range of excavators, HDD rigs, and other equipment and specialist plant. 



  • Work Experience – 1 year minimum of proven work experience in trench/duct installation and/or, earthworks and road construction; STMS qualification an advantage.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with necessary equipment - Experience with a wide range of construction plant is required with specific practical knowledge of operation and maintenance of the excavators, loaders, dozers.
  • Technical Skills - Demonstrate understanding of plans, drawings and specifications; Ability to set out minor works and assist on work for large projects; Ability to implement and record quality requirements.
  • Language/Numerical Skills - Demonstrated verbal and written English skills; Demonstrated ability with simple math functions.
  • Safety - Maintaining and demonstrating an up-to-date understanding of and compliance with Transfield Services quality, Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) systems, policies and procedures, including reporting of incidents, the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required; Lead or participate in hazard identification and subsequent controls.
  • Training - Demonstrated ability, willingness and commitment to be multi-skilled, up-skilled; continuously up-dates necessary skills and knowledge as required for the role.
  • Physical Abilities - Physically fit, as the job requires manual work, walking and bending
  • Driving Skills - Minimum requirements are a valid Class 1 full drivers licence with WTR endorsement or equivalent overseas licence.
