Our CT team in Auckland is looking for an experienced and qualified Service Technician to be based at the Auckland Airport.


Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of the AA Telco infrastructure, including the following disciplines: Networking, Electronic Systems, Car-park equipment, Equipment Rooms, including UPS and network switches, FIDS equipment, PA cabling, Access control cabling, CCTV both hardware and cabling and any other relevant  technology.




To be successful in the role, you will need to have proven data cabling work experience for a minimum of 2 years and have work experience within the NZ telco network.


Confidence is key to this role as you will need to be on your own when working on projects/tasks.  You will need to make independent decisions and not be shy about delegating work to senior team members.


Other Requirements for the role:


  • Basic Handyman skills; Skilled in using electrical hand tools (i.e. drills); Familiar with specifications of different cables (fibre and copper)
  • Familiar with appropriate test equipment; Familiar with basic international telecommunication colour codes; Fibre jointing; Reading manuals and translating the content / instructions into practice; Demonstrated skills in soldering; Using insertion displacement tools; Stripping and laying cables; Familiar with fibre optic cable and technology, preferably in NZ
  • Familiar with specifications of different cables; Can identify different types of antennae; Familiar with specifications of different cables and station equipment
  • Familiar with CCTV systems and terminal equipment; Digital microwave knowledge
  • Not colour blind; Physically fit, especially able to lift heavy loads; Not afraid of heights; Manual dexterity; Good near vision
  • EST licence is desirable
  • Available to work on rosters/shifts and be on call.
