About the role
Broadspectrum have a long and successful partnership with Mobil Australia. We are now seeking a qualified and eager Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Turnaround Team. 
This position will see you based at the Mobil Altona refinery on a fixed term contract, with the potential for further employment afterwards.

 

As the successful candidate in this role, some of your core responsibilities will include;

 

  • Establishing, developing and maintaining detailed project schedules and work plans 
  • Assist in preparation and review of work method statements 
  • Participate in Constructability Reviews
  • Assist the Sub-contract co-ordinator in managing the tendering process - briefing subcontractors, evaluating tenders and preparing recommendations for appointments.
  • Assist the Sub-contract co-ordinator in monitoring subcontractor progress claims and evaluate subcontractor and labour variations.
  • Assist the QA department in preparing & issuing of  Work Packages to Supervision, including emergent work;
  • Manage progress of off-site fabrication work
  • Prepare Material take-offs and ensures all materials required to execute work are available
  • Direct and assure accuracy of project plans and schedules, resource profiles, progress curves and milestones information being produced
  • Preparation of budgets and quotes and monitoring of expenses
  • Conduct workplace investigations and supplier performance audits. 
  • Optimise the use of resources across the Turnaround to ensure cost efficiency. 

 

Highly desirable skills would include:

  • Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • 3+ years project execution experience within the Oil & Gas industry (major maintenance / capital works - Greenfield and Brownfield) Tertiary qualified Mechanical Engineer 
  • Local Refinery industry experience 
  • Working knowledge of relevant Australian codes and standards 
  • Hands on experience of working on Exchangers, Cooling Towers, Piping, Vessels, Civil's etc. 
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety, procurement and contract processes and procedures.
  • Have an understanding of the implementation of quality assurance procedures, manuals and checklists
